INTERNSHIP PHASE1
WEEK 6
WEEKLY REFLECTION
18/8/2025 to 22/8/2025
Monday to Friday
This week of my internship was vibrant and meaningful, offering a blend of regular classroom activities and special school events. Each day provided valuable opportunities to observe, teach, interact with students, and become more familiar with the school environment.
I continued with my routine classroom responsibilities. I observed classes handled by different teachers and learned new strategies related to questioning techniques, classroom management, and student engagement. These observations helped me understand how to maintain discipline while still keeping students motivated and involved in learning activities.
I also handled substitution periods throughout the week. These periods gave me hands-on experience in managing classes independently. I assisted students with their ongoing classwork, clarified their doubts, and maintained classroom order. This allowed me to develop confidence, patience, and quick decision-making skills.
During my teaching sessions, I followed the structured lesson plan format—introduction, presentation, interaction, and consolidation. I used simple examples and interactive questions to make the lessons effective. The students responded enthusiastically, and their active participation encouraged me to continue improving my teaching methods. I also became more aware of the need to adjust my pace based on the students’ level of understanding.
Interactions with students during free periods helped me build a friendly rapport with them. They felt more comfortable approaching me with questions, which created a positive and supportive learning atmosphere. I also observed how teachers collaborated with each other for planning, handling substitutions, and organising special events like Independence Day.
Overall, this week greatly contributed to my growth as a teacher-trainee. I gained more confidence in classroom handling, improved my teaching techniques, and understood the importance of school events in holistic student development. I look forward to applying these learnings in the upcoming weeks of my internship.
