INTERNSHIP PHASE 1 WEEK 3

 WEEKLY REFLECTION

28/7/2025 to 1/8/2025

Monday to Friday

This week of my school internship was enriching and helped me grow both as a learner and a teacher. Every day brought new experiences that strengthened my understanding of classroom teaching and school functioning.

Throughout the week, I observed how teachers planned their lessons, organised learning activities, and handled student behaviour. These observations gave me a clearer idea of how theory is applied in real classroom situations. I realised the importance of clarity in instructions, timely reinforcement, and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.

During my substitution periods, I had opportunities to manage classes independently. These moments helped me practise discipline management, communication skills, and student engagement. I learned to address students patiently and assist them with their doubts while ensuring the class remained orderly. This boosted my confidence in handling a class on my own.

In my teaching periods, I followed a structured lesson plan that included introduction, presentation of content, interaction, and consolidation. I tried using simple examples and questions to connect with the students and make the topics easier to understand. The students responded with enthusiasm, and their participation encouraged me to refine my teaching approach. I also learned to modify my pace based on the students’ level of understanding.

Another key learning experience was the importance of building rapport with students. Interacting with them during free time and group activities helped create a friendly relationship. This positive connection reflected in the classroom, where students became more comfortable, attentive, and willing to participate.

I also noticed how teachers supported each other by sharing materials, adjusting timetables, and cooperating during substitution duties. This teamwork created a smooth and efficient school environment and helped me understand the value of collaboration in the teaching profession.Overall, the week provided me with practical exposure to lesson planning, classroom management, student interaction, and professional responsibilities. It allowed me to reflect on my strengths and areas needing improvement. I feel more confident than before, and I am motivated to continue learning and enhancing my skills in the coming weeks
