WEEKLY REFLECTION
21/7/2025 to 26/7/2025
Monday to Saturday
This week of my school internship was highly productive and filled with meaningful learning experiences. Each day provided me with opportunities to observe classes, teach lessons, interact with students, and understand the daily functioning of the school environment more deeply.
At the beginning of the week, I focused on observing how different teachers handled their classrooms, managed time, and used various teaching strategies. These observations helped me understand the importance of proper planning, clear instructions, and continuous student engagement. I also noticed how experienced teachers maintained discipline while still creating a friendly and positive learning atmosphere.
Throughout the week, I took substitution periods where I supervised students and helped them with classwork. These responsibilities allowed me to develop confidence in handling a classroom independently. I learned how to manage mixed-ability learners and provide individual support when necessary. I could gradually sense improvement in my communication, patience, and classroom control. My teaching sessions were an important part of the week. I followed the lesson plan format—Introduction, Presentation, Interaction, and Consolidation—to teach social lessons. I used simple examples and questioning techniques to make the lesson more interesting and understandable. Students participated actively, which motivated me and helped me refine my classroom strategies. I understood the need to adapt my teaching according to students’ responses, pace, and comprehension level.
Interaction with students during breaks and substitution periods helped me build a good rapport with them. They began to respond more freely and confidently, which created a comfortable learning environment. I also observed how co-teachers collaborated and supported each other, especially during busy schedules or sudden timetable changes.
This week also strengthened my time management, observation skills, and professional responsibility. I realised the importance of punctuality, proper documentation, and preparation before entering the classroom. I became more aware of the challenges teachers face daily and how they effectively handle them.
Overall, this week contributed significantly to my personal and professional growth. It enhanced my teaching confidence, improved my understanding of classroom dynamics, and helped me connect better with the students. I look forward to applying what I have learned in the upcoming weeks of my practicum.
