Internship Phase 1 Week 7

WEEKLY REFLECTION

25/8/2025 to 29/8/2025

Monday to Friday

This week of my internship was a blend of academic responsibilities, classroom observations, and cultural celebrations. It was a valuable period where I gained more confidence in handling students, understanding their learning needs, and participating in school activities.

A major part of the week was focused on the 2nd Term Examination. I assisted teachers in distributing question papers, maintaining discipline during the exam, and helping with invigilation duties. Through this, I learned how exam procedures are organised in schools and how teachers ensure a fair and calm atmosphere for students. Observing students during the exams also helped me understand their level of preparation, concentration, and exam behaviour.

Another highlight of the week was the Onam Celebration. The school was filled with a festive mood, and students actively participated in various programmes. The making of Pookalam (floral decoration), Onam songs, and cultural performances brought colour and cheer to the school environment. I assisted teachers in organising the events and guiding the students, which helped me understand the importance of teamwork, coordination, and cultural harmony within the school community. The celebration showcased how festivals help in lding unity and spreading joy among students and teachers.

Along with these events, I continued my routine internship duties. I observed different classes and learned new methods of teaching, discipline strategies, and student engagement techniques. These observations gave me practical insights into how lesson plans are implemented in real classrooms. I also handled substitution periods where I interacted with students, helped them revise lessons, and ensured a positive classroom atmosphere. These responsibilities strengthened my communication skills and classroom management abilities.

Overall, this week helped me develop both academically and personally. The experience of assisting during the 2nd Term Exams improved my organisational skills, while the Onam celebrations gave me a deeper understanding of cultural integration in schools. I feel more confident and prepared to handle the upcoming weeks of my internship with greater responsibility and enthusiasm.
