INTERNSHIP PHASE1
WEEK4
WEEKLY REFLECTION
4/8/2025 to 8/8/2025
Monday to Friday
This week of my internship was a meaningful learning journey that helped me understand the practical side of teaching more deeply. Each day taught me something new about classroom interactions, lesson organization, and the responsibilities of a teacher.
At the beginning of the week, I was mainly observing classes and understanding the flow of teaching. Watching experienced teachers helped me see how they introduced topics, connected ideas, maintained discipline, and encouraged students to think. Their way of handling the class with patience and clarity inspired me to adopt similar strategies in my own teaching.
As the week progressed, I got more opportunities to take classes. While teaching, I tried to use clear explanations, examples, and questions to make the lessons meaningful. I noticed that students were more responsive when the activities were simple and relatable. Some classes were easy to manage, while others required more effort, but each experience taught me how to adapt to different learning styles and classroom situations.
Substitution periods helped me practise classroom control and communication. Managing a group of energetic students was challenging, but it also helped me understand the importance of setting rules, giving timely instructions, and keeping students engaged. These experiences made me more confident and improved my ability to handle unexpected situations.
Throughout the week, I interacted with students during breaks and activities. These informal moments helped build trust and rapport, which later made the teaching-learning process smoother. I understood that when students feel comfortable with the teacher, they participate more freely and respond better.
I also learned how important planning and preparation are. Whether it was arranging teaching aids, reading the lesson beforehand, or preparing questions, each step helped me deliver the content more effectively. I realised that a well-prepared teacher can manage the class better and create a more positive learning environment.
Overall, this week strengthened my understanding of the teaching profession. It gave me confidence, patience, and clarity about my role as a teacher-trainee. I look forward to applying what I learned and improving myself in the coming days of my internship.
