INTERNSHIP PHASE 1
WEEK 10
WEEKLY REFLECTION
22/9/2025 to 25/9/2025
Monday to Thursday
This week of my internship was centred entirely on classroom learning and teaching responsibilities. Every day offered new experiences that helped me understand the practical aspects of teaching more clearly.
I spent a significant part of the week observing classes handled by different teachers. These observations allowed me to learn how teachers introduce new concepts, use the blackboard effectively, maintain students’ attention, and handle unexpected situations. I was able to see how teaching methods change depending on the topic and the age group of students.
I also handled several substitution periods throughout the week. During these sessions, I assisted students with their classwork, clarified their doubts, and ensured that the class remained disciplined. Managing these classes independently helped me develop confidence and taught me the importance of giving clear instructions and staying calm even in challenging situations.
My own teaching sessions were a major learning experience. I prepared lesson plans carefully and focused on presenting the content in a simple and systematic manner. I used questioning, examples, and board explanations to make the lessons understandable for the students. Their active participation helped me judge the effectiveness of my teaching and encouraged me to improve my approach. I also paid attention to time management so that each part of the lesson was covered smoothly.
Throughout the week, I interacted with students before and after class, which helped build a positive learning atmosphere. Students became more open in asking questions and sharing their difficulties. I realised that building a friendly rapport with learners is important for a comfortable and effective classroom environment.
Overall, this week strengthened my teaching skills and deepened my understanding of classroom management. It helped me become more confident, organised, and aware of my responsibilities as a teacher-trainee. I look forward to applying these learnings in the coming weeks.
