INTERNSHIP PHASE 1

WEEK 8

WEEKLY REFLECTION

8/9/2025

to 12/9/2025

Monday to Friday

This week of my internship was entirely focused on classroom activities, teaching practice, and understanding student behaviour more closely. Each day provided me with meaningful opportunities to improve my teaching skills and gain confidence in interacting with students.

Throughout the week, I observed several classes handled by different teachers. These observations helped me understand various teaching methods, presentation styles, and ways to maintain discipline in the classroom. I noted how teachers used questioning techniques, examples, and short activities to keep students engaged. These insights helped me reflect on my own teaching and identify areas where I could improve.

I also received multiple substitution periods, which gave me practical experience in handling the class independently. During these sessions, I guided students with their classwork, clarified their doubts, and ensured that the class remained orderly. Managing students of different abilities taught me the importance of patience, clear instructions, and a calm approach. These duties also strengthened my classroom management skills and improved my communication with students.

My own teaching sessions were an important part of the week. I followed a structured lesson plan and focused on explaining concepts clearly and gradually. I used simple examples, board work, and questioning to make the lesson interactive. The students responded well and participated actively, which encouraged me to try different strategies to make learning more meaningful. I also learned to adjust my teaching pace based on the students’ level of understanding.

Throughout the week, I interacted with students during breaks and before class, which helped build a positive teacher–student relationship. This rapport made the classroom environment more comfortable and helped students feel confident to ask questions. I also observed how teachers collaborated with one another, shared responsibilities, and supported each other during busy schedules.

Overall, this week strengthened my teaching confidence and improved my understanding of classroom dynamics. I gained valuable experience in planning lessons, managing students, and adapting to different classroom situations. I look forward to applying these learnings and continuing to grow in the coming weeks of my internship.
