INTERNSHIP PHASE 1

WEEK 9

 WEEKLY REFLECTION

15/9/2025 to 17/9/2025

Monday to Wednesday

This week of my internship was completely focused on classroom activities, teaching practice, and student interaction. Each day gave me valuable opportunities to observe experienced teachers, handle classes independently, and understand how learning happens in a real school environment.

Throughout the week, I observed different classes and paid attention to how teachers introduced lessons, maintained discipline, and engaged students. These observations helped me understand the importance of clear instructions, proper pacing, and using examples to make concepts easier for students. I also learned how teachers manage mixed-ability learners by giving individual support when needed.

I had several substitution periods during the week. These periods helped me practise classroom management on my own. I supervised students, helped them with their ongoing classwork, and ensured that the learning environment remained calm and organised. Handling these classes improved my confidence and communication skills.

My own teaching sessions were an important part of the week. I followed my lesson plans closely and tried to make the lessons as simple and interesting as possible. I used board work, questioning techniques, and short explanations to help students understand the content. Students responded well and participated actively, which encouraged me to adjust my teaching approach based on their needs.

Interactions with students also helped me build a positive relationship with them. They felt comfortable asking questions and sharing their doubts, which made the classroom more interactive. I realised that a friendly and supportive attitude helps students learn better.

Overall, this week helped me grow as a teacher-trainee. I became more confident in handling classes, planning lessons, and managing students effectively. I look forward to using these learnings in the upcoming weeks.
