INTERNSHIP PHASE 2
WEEK 1
21/10/2025 to 25/10/2025
Monday to Friday
This week marked one of the most meaningful stages of my Phase 2 Internship, as I continued my classroom teaching with more confidence and clarity. Throughout the week, I focused on improving my lesson delivery, time management, student engagement, and classroom interaction. Each day provided new learning experiences that helped me understand the real essence of teaching.
During the lessons, I concentrated on clear explanations, step-by-step presentation, and questioning techniques that encouraged students to think independently. I used simple examples, board work, and short discussions to make each topic easier for learners to understand. Students responded positively, and their active involvement motivated me to refine my teaching further. Their doubts, observations, and participation helped me realize the importance of creating a comfortable learning environment in every class.
I also made efforts to closely observe classroom discipline. By giving simple instructions, maintaining eye contact, and moving around the class, I was able to manage the behaviour of students effectively. Substitution periods helped me explore different classes and understand varied learning styles. These interactions taught me that every class has its own pace and that a teacher must adapt her strategies accordingly.
Another major focus this week was improving my lesson preparation. I planned each lesson carefully, selecting appropriate teaching aids and designing questions that would suit the level of learners. Through this practice, I gained a better understanding of the importance of structured planning. I also realized how essential it is to remain flexible and make changes when the class demands it.
Reflection at the end of each day helped me identify my strengths as well as areas for improvement. I noticed a visible growth in my classroom communication, confidence, and ability to handle unexpected situations. The support and feedback from my mentor teacher were extremely helpful in refining my teaching skills. Their suggestions guided me in correcting small mistakes and becoming more effective in my presentation.
Overall, this week gave me a deeper insight into the teaching profession. It strengthened my belief that teaching is not just the delivery of content, but a thoughtful process of guiding students with patience, clarity, and understanding. My experiences from this week have contributed greatly to my professional development and have prepared me better for the responsibilities of a future teacher.
